This is a scam/money making scheme by Isha foundation. This was advertised as being free of charge. I registered online on the day of Shivratri celebration. I am based in South Africa. I got an email from Ishas Africa office with invoice requesting payment for ZAR510 (+-35$) . the invoice had only one line item. When I responded saying that the Rudraksha beads wee supposed to be free why are they now asking for payment. The response was that ‘bringing this offering to Africa incurs several costs (shipping, import taxes, etc)’ As import duties and taxes are controlled by the government I requested a detailed breakdown of the fees so I can see what I am paying for. As this is essentially a gift and of no commercial value if declared correctly should incur no government duties or taxes. I did not get any response. The email further stated that after paying this amount the beads could still take months to arrive and then if you wanted it delivered to you then you have to still pay a courier fee. If three small beads are taking months to be shipped between India and Africa there is no way it can be an express courier service is being used as the high fees would suggest. Furthermore it makes little sense that the foundation will be shipping three beads at a time separately for everyone who requested this in Africa to their Africa office but would rather send them in bulk shipments.. Considering the millions of these beads that were being blessed if everyone outside of India is expected to pay US$35 + additional shipping fees to get it to their door how many millions is this organisation minting? As I have yet to receive a reply and don’t expect one I can only think that this is one big scam/money making scheme by this organisation. Please be very careful.
